Over 60 Years

of Innovation

1962

Activity begins with the production of a patented metal detector for the textile industry to detect tiny quantities of metal in fabrics to protect the textile production machinery.

1979/1982

CEIA patents the first walk-through Metal Detector (1979) with microcomputer-based DSP analysis and the first column type gate (1982).

1988

CEIA introduces the CEIA PMD1, first multi-zone walk-through metal detector with full person height localization display.

1991

CEIA metal detectors are certified by the FAA (US Dept. of Transportation).

1996

CEIA patents the elliptical column walk-through metal detector.

1997

CEIA USA is founded in Cleveland, OH.

1998

CEIA’s in-house EMC testing laboratory is governmentally accredited as a “competent body in the matter of electromagnetic compatibility.”

2002

The CEIA 02PN20 multi-zone walk through metal detector is selected and certified for installation in North American airports.

2004

CEIA releases the SMD601 multi-zone walk-through metal detector specifically designed to comply with the new NIJ Standard-0601.02 (U.S. Dept of Justice).

2007

CEIA unveils the CEIA CMD (Compact Metal Detector), with its one-piece foldable design that enables it to be deployed quickly and carried easily for ground search applications.

2010

CEIA EMA automatic bottled liquids scanner is certified for use in airports.

2014

The CEIA EMIS-MAIL letter bomb and IED detector is certified for mail security inspection.

2021

CEIA OPENGATE is debuted.

2022

CEIA USA celebrates 25 year anniversary.

2023

OPENGATE received Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation.
